Web 2.0 Thought Summary

Great program! I actually enjoyed doing this. Final thoughts: Many fun and interesting sites out there in the ether. Twittering is for twits. Can see using more of YouTube in programming. Would be great if CPSD or MMSCL had computers available for basic computer classes, Computer Club, etc. for kids like Middle Country has a room w/ available computers for programs. PALS Wiki very helpful in library system basics. Will continue to use GoogleReader and Delicious.

Craigslist

I found ThreeVillagePeople, a site for artisans in the Three Village School District at http://longisland.craigslist.org/grp/1098328838.html. No direct link to site.
Site interesting, a mix of local businesses and artists.

GoogleDocs

GoogleDocs has many applications, especially for collobrative writing.

I hadn't seen any wikis besides Wikipedia and thought the town wikis (Ann Arbor, Rochester) would be great to look for on the web before traveling to a place you're unfamiliar with. I took a good look at the at Catalog Info in the PALS wiki, picking up new info. The idea of a community wiki on a library website is very interesting.

Finding new feeds

Found manuevering around all three frustrating. I tried various search terms in Google Reader, Blogline, and Technorati. Then tried search terms for children's lit blogs I view. Results not great. Probably fine if you're searching for something many others are searching for, like NY Yankees, Newsday.

Discovering Feeds

I really enjoyed looking at the Staff Feeds/SCLS Feeds (could be more interesting)/ Public Feeds, etc. On the MMSCL website the RSS feeds were a little disappointing because they were only listings of new materials. Is there a way for patrons using our website and catalog to view the Public Feeds I saw in the Staff Catalog?
I added the NYT Book Review to my Google Reader account. I think I'll use Google Reader from now on.
